Following my appointment as the SNP’ spokesperson for Youth, Sport & Culture, I want to reaffirm my commitment to the Party and country to work towards helping bring about change we’re working for.
Seychelles and the rest of the world are in the mood for change. For this to happen we need a balance between youth and experience. This is why as a young graduate, I put aside the fear of victimization by the SPPF and came forward as a fresh talent to contribute in this evolving process.
Some would say I have benefitted from the ruling party’s past policies and would promptly judge my action to join the opposition camp as treachery. Well, they are wrong. As a young politician, I’m well aware that the best is yet to come for Seychelles. I've found that the reasons I’ve get involved with the SNP are actually very similar to those who are in the red camp. I’ve seen something I don't agree with and I want to work out how to change it, or I want to feel proud about getting behind something SNP agrees. I’m proud of what I believe in.
I’m therefore, reminding all young voters in Seychelles that they should be willing and ready to stand tall before the task our society is confiding in them. It is our responsibility to search for and bring about the changes the country is in dire need of.
SNP wants to promote younger faces. As a responsible, sincere and determine opposition party, SNP has a place for every new generation of voices promising to create a new electoral map and an innovative direction for Seychelles, one which is better and more fitting for everyone. This is what the future SNP Government will be all about.
The Seychellois youths are central in my strategy for the future, just like the hundred others who are as excited, engaged and ready to bring the much needed change in the country at large.
I’m therefore, extending an invitation for you to join me and the SNP in this quest. Sign up today and be part of this historic movement which will once and for all bring along the much awaited change. Feel free to email us for any suggestions or for more information.

News: SNP's youngest member in parliament was in England between 1st and 12th March 2009. Hon Sandy Arrisol was attendding the 58th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA)’s seminar on parliamentary procedures Westminster.
The trip was an exciting opportunity to see democracy at work. I visited the Winchester constituency in Central London and met with the elected Liberal Democratic Party (LibDems) MP, Mark Oaten. What was most fascinating was the set up structure of the elected MP’s office, the influence he commands in his constituency with regards to all development projects, state investments and spending.
The two-week long visit in England was an ideal opportunity share ideas, exchange views and learn from other countries’ experiences and best practices. With participants coming from all Commonwealth Countries, the seminar was the ideal one-stop shop for an emerging democracy like ours.
She left Seychelles at the age of 15. Today she is hoping to be discovered as a top model, through her participation on Canada’s Next Top Model.
Now in her last year as a teenager, 19 year old Tara Didon is the daughter of ex-SBC TV presenter Jennifer Cecile and ex-police Commissioner, Gaetan Didon. She was studying Commerce at Vanier College in Montreal before joining popular the Canadian reality TV show.
“I feel like this show is going to open so many doors for me in the future and I can build a career according to how I do here,” says Tara.
With the look of a typical metisse from the tropics, everyone she met in her new found home thought she had the body of a model and should pursue it as a career. Some would even go as far as comparing her to Nicole Scherzinger, the lead singer of Pussycat Dolls.
Tara has both the look and personality to be Canada’s Next Top Model. So far she’s done a couple of photo shoots, but making it on the show is her first real break.
“You have to be able to communicate with the public, with the press, everyone. It’s not just about taking pretty pictures and I think I have a good mixture of both,” she says.
1418 newsletter team wishes Tara all the best in her future endeavours in the world of modeling..
SNP Leader, Wavel Ramkalawan sent a personal congratulatory message to all nurses this month on the occasion of International Nurses’ Day.
Annually some 40 graduates from the National Institute of Health and Social Studies (NIHSS) join the nursing profession. The Seychelles National Party has been a consistent champion of Seychelles's nurses. We believe that supporting nurses in the workplace leads to better health care outcomes.
Therefore, once again this year Mr. Ramkalawan wanted to thank all the nurses for their devotion in ensuring that the Seychellois people receive the best care, especially when they are most in need.
He said: “As you deliver quality service to your patients, you are indeed serving the community in the best way possible. A healthy nation is a vibrant and productive one. This is what our country needs, and your contribution in bringing this about is very much appreciated.”
Addressing the theme chosen for this year, the SNP Leader said it centered right at the heart of this noble profession. He therefore, called on all nurses to lead in delivering care, which he said, is an integral part of their vocation.
SNP is committed in getting more young Seychellois to join the nursing profession, working out an attractive salary and promotional scheme and restoring the pride of the profession.
The message ended on a reassurance note that the nurses have the full support of our people as they go about their daily duties. Mr. Ramkalawan wishes them a further encouragement to fulfill the task they have embarked on.

Will it not do the same as the SPPF?
The SNP will lead by example
The SNP will change what is wrong and replace it with what is right.
Where there is division, we will bring unity.
Where there is no transparency, we will bring truth.
Where there is corruption, we will bring honesty.
Where there is victimisation, we will bring justice.
1. The SNP will lead by example. What we expect YOU to do, WE will do, and we will ensure that what we do is in keeping with what we say. 2. Nobody will be above the law. There will not be one set of rules for YOU and a different set of rules for US. In a Government formed by the SNP, the President will hold all ministers to account and ask them to resign if they are guilty of any serious offence.
3. We will have national institutions which protect your rights.
* National media which is independent will allow you to have access to information and will let you know what is going on in the country, without trying to disguise the truth.
* An independent judiciary will guarantee your rights and justice for everyone.
* The Office of the Ombudsman will be independent and effective to ensure your rights against abuses of authority.
The SNP will insist on honesty and transparency everywhere in Government. For example, the President and all Ministers will be required to declare their assets when they enter and leave Government.
